Postcards from Iceland – 14 (last day)

All good things come to an end, and it is with bittersweetness that we arrive at our last hotel on the Blue Lagoon, which doesn’t need introduction and it is amazing. That water… is wonderful.

Our holiday in Iceland has surpassed my expectations and I want to come back and explore more. Less road tripping and more walking. More nature and less car journeys. It was a bit of a tour the force, but in a good way. I wouldn’t change it (maybe a tad less rain, we were quite unlucky… it’s like we were towing our own personal rain cloud on the back of the car)

A slow trip getting to know in a bit more depth a small corner of it… I quite fancy returning to the North East, inhaling the amazingly clear nordic air. Perhaps hopping onto an island or two. Definitively hiking. On our last afternoon I sat on the balcony overlooking 1300yrs old lava fields reading Icelandic literature, wrapped in Icelandic wool and it felt good. It felt right.

I’ll be back.
